AeroClave Chosen as 1 of 7 Innovative Ambulance Features

The recognition of AeroClave as one of seven innovative ambulance features by Leila Merrill at EMS1 highlights the growing importance of advanced decontamination solutions in emergency medical services (EMS) and fire departments. AeroClave’s products are designed with the unique needs of first responders in mind, offering a practical and efficient method to ensure the cleanliness and safety of their vehicles. This technology allows for the interior of an ambulance to be cleaned without requiring crew members to manually do the job inside the vehicle, thereby reducing their exposure to potentially harmful pathogens. Instead, the cleaning process can be conducted externally, which is not only safer for the crew but also more convenient, as it eliminates the need to return to a station for disinfection purposes.

The flexibility of AeroClave systems is a significant advantage for emergency services agencies. These systems can either be integrated into existing vehicles owned by the agency or come pre-installed in new ambulances. This adaptability ensures that a wide range of agencies can benefit from AeroClave’s decontamination technology, regardless of their current fleet composition.

A notable implementation of this technology can be seen in the Wheeled Coach ambulance designed for the U.S. Army, which was showcased at FDIC . This particular ambulance is built on a robust Ford F-450 4×4 chassis, incorporating not just the AeroClave Decontamination System, but also a CASPR UV air purification system, highlighting the comprehensive approach to maintaining a clean and safe environment inside the ambulance. Additional features such as a secondary AC compressor, narcotics lock box, a 12v/110v HVAC system with dual evaporator, a Cool Bar condenser system, and a blanket warmer, further enhance the functionality and comfort of the vehicle. The patient compartment itself is designed with ample space and headroom, featuring an aluminum interior that contributes to both the durability and ease of cleaning of the ambulance.

The integration of AeroClave’s decontamination system into such a well-equipped ambulance underscores the critical role of innovative technologies in improving the safety and efficiency of emergency medical services. This collaboration between AeroClave and Wheeled Coach, a subsidiary of REV Ambulance Group Orlando, Inc., exemplifies how advancements in vehicle design and decontamination processes can significantly benefit first responders and their patients.
