In the early days of the Ebola outbreak of the mid-2010s, patient transport companies and first responder agencies across the nation became concerned for the safety of their crews who could potentially be exposed to this largely unknown and deadly pathogen.
Bossier City Fire Department in northwest Louisiana was one of them. As department leaders were investigating decontamination systems for their buildings and vehicles, they met with a representative of AeroClave, a Florida-based manufacturer of decontamination technologies for industry sectors from schools to restaurants to aircraft and hospitals.
